Van flips on I-85 South
A single car accident on Interstate 85 South slowed traffic Friday morning in Vance County.
A 2002 Ford van that was towing another vehicle ran off the right side of I-85 at approximately the 219 mile marker and overcorrected, causing the van to turn over, according to trooper James Brent Montgomery of N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Montogomery said the van came to rest upside down on I-85 in the southbound lane. He said the towed vehicle came undone but was not damaged.
The van driver was Joanna S. Boodram, 41, of 1331 Nicholas St., Henderson. There were two passengers: Emanuel Johnson, 45, and Christopher Johnson, 12, both from same Nicholas Street address.
Boodram was the only one transported by Vance County EMS to Maria Parham Medical Center with minor injuries.
She was charged with failing to maintain lane control. Traffic was stopped due to lanes being blocked on I-85 South for approximately one hour until the scene could be cleared.
All traffic was rerouted off at the 220 South exit and down U.S. 1 with the assistance of the Vance County Sheriff’s Office.
