Spring Fest brings spotlight to Warrenton
WARRENTON — The Courthouse Square will be the center of activity Saturday as city and county residents gather for the annual Spring Fest, sponsored by the Warrenton Revitalization Committee
The activities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
Vendors will have arts and crafts on display and for sale. Local artisans will show their products. Their wares will include candles, jewelry, pottery, hand-turned wood products, homemade soap, quilts, plants, bottle art, military collectibles and handcrafted African, Indian and Caribbean items.
For those with healthy appetites, there will be a burger wagon, barbecue, funnel cake, sno-cones, fish sandwiches, cotton candy, baked goods, salsa, chow-chow, jellies, sauces and more.
“We have every spot filled with some sort of vendor,” said Woody King, chairman of the revitalization committee.
Live music will be provided by Keith and Jonathan Abbott, a grandfather-grandson duo from Oxford; GrassStreet Bluegrass Band; and the Warren County Travelers, featuring locals Ricky Young and Randy Medlin.
Entertainment sponsors for the event are Duke Progress Energy and Halifax Electric Membership Corporation.
Spring Fest is one of several events the Warrenton Revitalization Committee hosts to call attention to the offerings of the Warrenton business district. In addition to Spring Fest, the committee sponsors a Harvest Market Day in October and Christmas Prelude in December.
