Town seeks public's opinion on rezoning request

Feb. 22, 2014 @ 03:32 PM

The agenda for Monday's Henderson City Council meeting is full of routine items and a couple of public hearings.

The board plans to hear residents' input on rezoning seven tracts of land on Wilbur Street and amending the city's zoning ordinance regarding street signs in public rights-of-way.

Also on the agenda are two budget amendments. Board members will consider transferring water fees from Granville County from the water fund to the rate stabilization reserve fund, which is used by the city to offset debt service incurred by utility projects. They'll also look at increasing the budget for replacing water mains in town by $173,000 and seek to authorize expanding the project.

The city council will consider a resolution honoring Charlie Rose, a Henderson native who is being named the North Carolinian of the Year by the N.C. Press Association.
