A fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshall’s Service was found and arrested by members of the Granville County Sheriff’s Office’s Aggressive Crime Enforcement Unit on Monday.

Deputies arrested Brandon Thomas, 29, of Lexington, Ky., after a traffic stop at an Interstate 85 South rest stop.

Thomas was wanted by the Marshall’s Service on federal probation violations and by Cincinnati, Ohio, police in connection with a double homicide in January. He was also wanted by Lexington, Ky., police for questioning in a double homicide that occurred in late 2013.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle for speeding and multiple seatbelt violations. In the course of the traffic stop, the passenger—eventually determined to be Thomas—was unwilling to give officers proper identification. His identification was later found in a trashcan inside the men’s restroom.

Thomas is being held under a federal fugitive warrant with no bond. The others in the vehicle were cited and released.
