Henderson police arrested a man shortly after a call about an armed robbery on Kittrell Street Sunday in which two men were forced at gunpoint to hand over a loaded rifle.

According to a Henderson Police Department report, several assailants took a black rifle, its magazine and seven rounds, valued at $700 total, from a 70-year-old man and a 27-year-old companion in a red 2000 GMC Jimmy parked near 240 Kittrell St.

Lt. Christopher Ball said in written responses the older man was trying to sell his rifle.

“The parties he arranged to sell the firearm to robbed him at gunpoint and took the weapon,” Ball wrote.

Officers and Vance County deputies began looking for a vehicle according to a description provided by the victims.

“They located the suspect vehicle on South Garnett Street that was occupied by a single occupant, the driver,” Ball said.

Henderson police minutes later, at about 1:52 p.m., arrested Demoreah Jawan Bullock, 19, of 321 Little Mill Road, Henderson, in the 1000 block of South Chestnut Street, according to the arrest report.

Bullock faces charges of two counts of armed robbery, and is jailed on $100,000 bond pending a hearing in Vance County District Court scheduled for May 14.

Bullock was identified as being a participant in the robbery, according to Ball.

Officers impounded a blue 1990 Buick in connection with Bullock’s arrest, according to police reports. The incident continues to be under investigation by members of the criminal investigations division.
