Peace Forum on tap Tuesday
Five area Rotary clubs have joined together to sponsor a Peace Forum to be held on Tuesday in the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center.
Sponsoring the event are the Henderson, Oxford, South Granville, Warrenton and Roxboro Rotary clubs.
The forum will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour and the program follows about 6:45.
Barry Phillips of Hillsborough will serve as master of ceremony. Speakers will be two Rotary Peace Fellows studying at the Duke-UNC Rotary Center.
Carlos Guiza Ceron, of Columbia, is enrolled in the master’s program in International Development Policy at Duke University. Ceron holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Javeriana University with a specialization in International Cooperation. His special interest is in quality management and human rights.
Rachel Rafferty, of Northern Ireland, is enrolled in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has eight years of experience in the field of education. Her focus is on ways of adopting informal educational approaches into mainstream education.
Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders who promote national and international cooperation, peace and conflict resolution.
The Duke-UNC Rotary Center is one of six Rotary Peace Center partner universities worldwide.
