Foundation tops $100,000 at gala
OXFORD — The fourth annual art gala put on by the Granville Health System Foundation has raised more than $111,000 toward the foundation’s expansion plan.
According to a statement from the foundation, more than 200 attended the event featuring nearly 100 raffle and auction items. Included were trips to Kiawah Beach, S.C.; Wrightsville Beach; Hatteras Island; Lake Gaston; and Oriental.
In a prepared statement, foundation board president Gary Bowman said, “This community has once again come together to overwhelmingly support the quality care offered through your community hospital. For this we thank you.”
Expansion plans include approximately 32,000 square feet of new construction and renovated space. The plan includes a new emergency department that will grow from 3,135 to 18,000 square feet, expanded space for surgical services and a larger laboratory department, expanded by more than 1,000 square feet.
A new, larger lobby and admissions area is also planned, as well as a new energy plant, additional parking and a more efficient and usable roadway and entrance system.
The art auction is regularly one of the foundation’s biggest fundraisers both in terms of dollars and community involvement. The foundation serves as a charitable resource for the Granville Health System.
The health system, in existence for 92 years, has been named a top 100 hospital each of the last four years.
