Filing period closes today at noon

Filing will be closing today at noon throughout the state for the  spring primaries and fall general election.

The Tri-County filings were light on the penultimate day. Oxford’s Dalton Huff filed to run for N.C. House District 2.

Neither Vance or Warren counties reported filings.

Vance County’s commissioner race increased with the addition of Dan Brummitt for District 4 earlier this week. The other commissioner candidates thus far include Scott Hughes and Tommy Hester in District 7, and Gordon Wilder in District 3.

Brumitt, Hester and Wilder are all incumbents.

The Vance school board filings so far have included Gloria White and Carolyn Faines for District 1; Darlynn Oxendine for District 2; Margaret Ellis in District 6; and Ruth Hartness in District 7.

White, Oxendine, Ellis and Hartness are incumbents.

Sheriff Peter White has also filed for re-election. Deborah Finch has filed for clerk of court and Carolyn Pecora for register of deeds.
