Slow opening to second week of filing

The second week of filing got off to a slow start.

At the state level, only one candidate filed: Democrat Ray Jeffers, of Roxboro, who seeks the N.C. House District 2 seat.

In Vance County, incumbent school board member Ruth Hartness filed to keep her District 7 seat.

In Granville County, two incumbents filed: David T. Smith, a Democrat, for District 2 county commissioner and Catherine “Rose” Lyon for the non-partisan Board of Education District 6 seat.

No reports were received from Warren County before deadline.

The filing period runs until noon Friday, Feb. 28.
