The Henderson City Council recognized Lt. Irvin Robinson Jr. with a resolution of appreciation at Monday night's meeting.

Robinson joined the Henderson Police Department in 1979, and retired earlier this month.

The council also unanimously voted to name the open shelter area of the police department's training center in his honor.

Police Chief Marcus Barrow requested the city council recognize Robinson’s 35 years of service by designating the shelter area of the K.K. Robinson Police Training Center as the Lt. Irvin Wheeler Robinson Jr. Recreation Shelter.
