Two Vance residents stuck in county water contract
The Vance County Board of Commissioners denied two requests from residents seeking to opt out of their county water agreements.
They were denied in a 6-1 vote, with Commissioner Deborah Brown dissenting.
Residents Jackson Wesley and Clinton Roberson appealed to the county water district board, which recommended the commissioners deny the requests.
Wesley cited his illness as having a financial impact
Roberson stated he no longer lives in Vance County.
Residents who signed-up for a wet tap a couple years ago are required to pay a $30 base fee, regardless of water usage.
Average water bills in Vance County’s water district are roughly $50.
The commissioners, which also serve as the water district board, have the final say in appeal cases.
