Hollister teen dies in fatal wreck
HOLLISTER — An 18-year-old died Monday in a two-vehicle crash on N.C. 43 in Warren County.
Marissa Richardson, of 106 Gibbs Ave., Hollister, was killed when her green Honda Accord crossed left of center into the southbound lane and collided with a work truck around 4:15 p.m., according to a N.C. Highway Patrol trooper.
The trooper said Richardson was traveling north on N.C. 43 toward Warrenton.
He said the crash occurred one mile north of Long School Road and one-half mile south of CC Road.
Richardson was traveling alone.
The trooper said the driver of the work truck was Michael Alston, 39, and the passenger was Dale Copeland, 53. He said both refused medical treatment.
Richardson graduated from Northwest Halifax High School in 2013.
Principal Marvin Bradley said she participated in the Junior ROTC program all four years.
“She was very energetic, personable, and caring,” he said. “She has a kind spirit and someone who strived to do better.”
Richardson had been working at a Shell gas station on Benvenue Road in Rocky Mount.
Her manager, Christy Allen, said she was a good employee.
“She was loved by everyone,” Allen said. “She was like family.”
