Registration open for Church Watch
Church families are invited to join the Henderson Police Department, the Henderson and Vance County fire departments and Crime Stoppers for a special Church Watch training session sponsored by South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church next Thursday, March 21.
Pastors and at least one deacon or trustee from local churches are requested to attend.
“It’s mostly geared for church personnel because it’s mostly about security, do you need it, and what kind, and how much,” said Jeanene Clopton of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Training will be offered in ways to enhance church security.
Bill Lloyd, a representative of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, will have a presentation the role ushers and greeters play in church security.
Providing information on crime prevention, community services, environmental and security protection will be Jessica West and Lt. Irvin Robinson of the Henderson Police Department.
Dave Arner, owner of Arner Security Systems in Henderson, will have a presentation on various types of alarm systems, and those suitable for churches.
Questions will be answered pertaining to the church’s role in combating the problem of controlling security in and around the church, and keeping churches safe and free of crime.
The training session will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m.
South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church is located at 905 Americal Road in Henderson.
Clopton said the church is asking those planning to attend to contact the church in advance at (252) 438-3322, or email Rev. Frank Sossamon at email@example.com, or contact Lt. Irvin Robinson at (252) 431-6061or firstname.lastname@example.org.
