Henderson police are investigating a Saturday morning armed robbery in which a man reported being pistol-whipped before held at gunpoint behind the BP station on Raleigh Road.

The victim told investigators a 1980s model blue vehicle pulled up to him at about 6:15 a.m., behind the BP at 401 Raleigh Road, and a black male wearing a white tank top shirt jumped out and hit him in the face with the grip of a handgun, according to Lt. Christopher Ball.

The man sustained minor injuries, according to the police report. He called police at 6:50 a.m.

The man, a resident of Henderson, added the assailant held him at gunpoint, robbing him of his hat, shoes and $180 cash.

Ball said the incident is under further investigation as an armed robbery, with an additional assault charge pending.
