Police capture suspect after downtown incident
Henderson police captured a man Thursday after an alleged armed robbery in the parking lot of Roses on North Garnett Street.
An investigation was started by police but no charges have been filed. The man was arrested, however, on unrelated charges.
Lt. Christopher Ball confirmed the incident is not believed to be connected to recently reported carjackings that have drawn significant attention around the city.
According to police, a woman told them she had returned to her vehicle from a nearby bank and was counting money when approached. She said she gave the robber money and he ran away.
An officer on patrol in the area was waved down, told a robbery had occurred and given a description. Police searched the area and found 19-year-old Linwood Woodard, who met the description given.
Woodard, of 564 Grant Street in Henderson, was arrested on unrelated charges.
As for the possible robbery, Ball said, “The first thing for us is to determine whether or not a crime has taken place. The incident is under investigation.”
