A Henderson man lost his home to a fire Friday after a kitchen flare-up got out of hand, according to reports from sheriff’s deputies and fire departments.

Volunteers from Hicksboro and Townsville joined Vance County Fire Department firefighters to put down the blaze at 211 Flanagan Road. There were no injuries, according to Vance Fire Chief Harold Henrich.

A Vance County Sheriff’s Office report on the fire noted $8,000 damage done to the 1976 Conner Mobile Home.

“It was a kitchen fire,” Henrich said. “For how old the trailer was, it was probably a total loss.”

Henrich said that James Edward Ivey III, was displaced because of the damage done to the home. The Red Cross helped him with temporary lodging.

John Henry Williamson was noted in the deputy report as residing at the address. Henrich said that there are numerous family members nearby.

“He has family living on that road,” Henrich said.
