Medical screenings available Tuesday
WARRENTON — A selection of free medical screenings will be offered Tuesday at the Warren County Health Department as part of a Healthy Living for a Lifetime event.
The day will also include a special presentation. The N.C. Farm Bureau will receive the Healthcare Leadership Council’s “Frontiers in Wellness” award.
Mary Grealy, president of the Healthcare Leadership Council, and U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield will present the award to Larry Wooten, president of the N.C. Farm Bureau, in an 11:30 a.m. ceremony.
The mobile screening unit will be at the health department from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. to offer free screenings for cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index and lung function. No appointment is necessary.
Eight hours of fasting is recommended for individuals who seek screening, but it is not required.
The Warren County Health Department is located at 544 West Ridgeway Street in Warrenton.
The award presentation is made to organizations that demonstrate innovation and effectiveness in promoting wellness and disease prevention.
The Healthy Living for a Lifetime program has been in operation for three years, traveling throughout the state to provide free screenings in rural communities.
