College trustees expected to get budget update

Vance-Granville Community College’s board of trustees will meet Monday evening, where members of each standing committee will provide reports.

John Foster, chairman of the building committee, will provide items for information including a capital projects update, site planning for corporate campus, and Warren County property.

The budget outlook for 2013-2014 is expected to be given for information by Danny Wright, the chairman of the budget committee.

Two items for board action are expected during the curriculum committee’s report, presented by Doris Terry Williams.

The board will vote on giving authority to the president to enter into a level one and level two Instructional Service Agreement, followed by approval of a new Human Services Technology/Gerontology concentration — Associate in Applied Science Degree.

Ernest Thompson, chairman of the personnel committee, will provide new employees and employee retirements and resignations for information.

A report on investments will be given by the investment committee’s chairman, Ernest Thompson, and Opie Frazier Jr., chairman of the investment committee will give a report on investments.

The chairwoman of the board and its executive committee, Deborah Brown, will provide two items for information and two items for action.

Action items are related to an accountability and credibility policy, and a self-supporting programs policy.

Expected in President Stelfanie Williams’ report are reflections from the Student Government Association president and student trustee, Felicia Sanders-Gupton.

The board is expected to confirm the following calendar dates:

• July regular meeting of the board, third Monday of the month.

• Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 board retreat.

• Sept. 4-6, 2013, N.C. Association of Community College Trustees, Fall Leadership Seminar in Wilmington.

• September regular meeting of the board, third Monday of the month.

• November regular meeting of the board, third Monday of the month.

A president’s evaluation is expected during closed session.
