Perry Scholarship applications available
Students looking to pursue a career in the allied health care field may be eligible for the 2013 Sam Perry Memorial Scholarship Program.
The scholarship was established by the Granville Health System Foundation in honor of Sam Perry, a physician’s assistant whose specialized medical care earned him respect from both patients and peers throughout his career.
For the fourth year in a row, a selected recipient will receive $500 toward tuition in August 2013.
“In order to be eligible for the program they have to be enrolled in an allied heath program at a credited school and looking to pursue a career in the health-related field,” said Linda Grissom, communications specialist at GHS. “We get a good response.”
Specific programs eligible for this scholarship include clinical laboratory sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiological science, pharmacy, registered nurse, bachelor’s and associates’ degrees in nursing, licensed practical nurses, dentistry and related careers, physician assistant and nurse practitioner.
The Perry Scholarship is a one-time scholarship, but individuals may reapply for as many years as they are in school.
“You can definitely reapply for it,” Grissom said. “Folks can submit an application, a hard copy, or they can apply online.”
Applications packet can be obtained online at ghsFoundation.org/ScholarshipApplication or by calling Grissom at (919) 690-2149.
The deadline for submitting applications is April 30. A scholarship recipient will be selected by the foundation board in May.
