Public input opportunity tonight

Feb. 10, 2014 @ 11:21 PM

A management plan for Kerr Lake includes an open house for public input this evening, weather permitting, at the Vance-Granville Community College Civic Center.

The event is from 4 to 7 p.m. and hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The 1995 John H. Kerr Reservoir Shoreline Management Plan is scheduled to be updated, and the open house, the last of three, is a part of the process.

The management plan affects property owners, campers and other visitors to the man-made lake.

The management plan is expected to be officially updated by the spring of 2015. Until that time, a moratorium is in place for new shoreline use permits and add-ons to old permits.

The deadline for public input is Feb. 28.

Open houses were previously held in Virginia at the South Hill Public Library and at the Clarksville Community Center.
