Oxford accepting applications for relief fund board seat
OXFORD — Applications are being accepted for by the City of Oxford for a seat on the board for the Fireman’s Relief Fund.
Commissioners will accept applications through Sept. 8. The new appointment will take the place of Taylor Jackson, who died in June, serving the term that ends in June 2015.
The purpose of the Firemen’s Relief Fund is to provide financial assistance to firefighters who have been injured, financially destitute or killed in the line of duty.
The board, appointed by city commissioners, reviews applications and interviews individuals seeking such relief.
