WILMINGTON — A 16-year-old is being held under $1 million bond in the shooting death of a Wilmington teenager.

Dominique Olivia Gibbs appeared in New Hanover County District Court on Friday. Judge Sandra Ray informed Gibbs if convicted she faces up to life in prison without parole on a charge of first-degree murder.

Gibbs is also charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. She was represented by the public defender's office.

Police have said Gibbs, Raequan Dupree Rouse and several others were on a Wilmington street on Jan. 19 when gunfire broke out. Rouse was driven by a friend to the hospital, where he died. The driver and at least one passenger in the car fled in another car.
