A former Greenville police officer has been indicted on charges of breaking and entering and larceny.

A Pitt County grand jury on Monday also indicted former detective Rose Edmonds on two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. No other details about the charges were immediately available, and it wasn't known if she had an attorney.

Edmonds was a 20-year department veteran when she was fired in February. Chief Hassan Aden said the officer was fired for falsifying a departmental record, lying and gross negligence.

The State Bureau of Investigation says it started investigating the narcotics officer last year at the district attorney's request.
