Dog fighting conviction in Jones County
TRENTON — A Jones County man has been convicted of dog fighting and sentenced to at least two years in prison.
Twenty-six-year-old Brian Devon Tucker of Pollocksville was convicted of five felony counts of dog fighting Wednesday in court in Trenton. The jury deliberated about 45 minutes before returned the guilty verdicts.
Tucker previously pleaded guilty to a dozen counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals and two counts of restraining dogs in a cruel manner.
District Attorney Ernie Lee says Judge Douglas Parsons sentenced Tucker to between 24 months and 32 months in prison. Tucker also will be on supervised release for three years after the prison sentence is completed.
Lee says Tucker also must have a psychological evaluation and cannot own any dogs.
