ATLANTA — Organizers of Georgia's Moral Monday protests say 23 demonstrators were arrested after refusing to leave the office of a state Senator.

Demonstrators gathered at the office of Republican state Sen. Jesse Stone Monday to demand that lawmakers continue a hearing on proposal to repeal the state's version of the "Stand Your Ground" law, which allows gun owners to use deadly force if they believe their lives are in danger. Stone is chairman of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.

Demonstrators asked for members of the public to be given an opportunity to give testimonies on the issue. Some demonstrators say the law is vaguely written, and could lead to profiling.

Moral Monday Georgia is an offshoot of a series of demonstrations led by the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP.
