Winston-Salem shooting leaves one dead, one critical
WINSTON-SALEM — Police say one man has been killed and another man critically injured in a Christmas Eve shooting in Winston-Salem.
Authorities said officers investigating a report of gunshots around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday found 23-year-old Valentino Alston dead and 21-year-old Deshawn Anderson wounded in a shed behind a home in a residential neighbored about 2 miles north of downtown.
Detectives has not release a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
Police say Anderson underwent surgery shortly after he was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition Wednesday.
The killing was Winston-Salem's 14th homicide in 2013. The city reported eight homicides through this time in 2012.
