Durham police say motorist shot to death
DURHAM — Police in Durham say a man driving an SUV was killed when multiple shots were fired into the vehicle.
A statement from police says shots were fired at the man Saturday morning. The SUV collided with as sedan and knocked it into a utility pole, causing the pole to break.
The SUV went into a yard and hit a tree.
Investigators say 34-year-old Haywood Jabbar Downey of Durham was pronounced dead at the scene. They said he had been shot at least once.
The driver of the sedan was treated at the hospital for injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening.
There have been no arrests in the case so far.
