Convicted felon sentenced for firearms charge
Convicted felon Jason Ryan Warring was sentenced in federal court Wednesday for a firearms charge.
Warring, 24, appeared before U.S. District Judge James Dever and was sentenced to 4½ years in federal prison. He was also given an additional three years of supervised release.
Oxford police caught Warring March 4 after a prowler was reported. Warring and another man attempted to leave but were apprehended. Warring was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.
Warring was involved in the July 2009 robbery and shooting of David Lee Hargrove. He was sentenced 14 to 17 months in that incident.
U.S. Attorney Thomas G. Walker, Oxford police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were involved in the investigation.
