Two brothers arrested Wednesday on burglary and drug-related charges are connected to burglary allegations in New York, according to Vance County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Vance deputies found one of the brothers at the scene of a burglary attempt Wednesday morning, and they caught up with the second later in the evening at his motel room at Scottish Inn, according to Lt. Joseph Ferguson.
Deputies arrested brothers Jonathan Eric Shearin and Louis Shearin III.
Jonathan Eric Shearin, 20, of 508 Hickory St., Henderson, faces felony charges of breaking and entering, larceny, having stolen goods, having a stolen firearm and having drugs for sale. He is also facing misdemeanor counts of vandalism and failing to appear in court.
He remains jailed on $ 51,200 bond pending a Vance County District Court hearing scheduled for Dec. 17.
Louis Shearin III, 24, of 1914 Eaton Street, Rock Stream N.Y. is facing charges for felony heroin possession and a fugitive warrant for arrest. He was jailed on $90,000 bond pending a Vance County court hearing scheduled for Dec. 10.
Ferguson confirmed Jonathan Shearin was arrested about 11 a.m. during a residential breaking and entering on Claire Drive in Henderson. Utilizing the K-9 unit, deputies apprehended him near Zeb Robinson Road with possession of a stolen firearm dating to a 2010 case in Vance County.
Deputies also said he carried 33 dosage units of pain medication taken in the attempted burglary.
Ferguson confirmed he is a suspect in a Dundee, N.Y., burglary, and at the time of his arrest was in possession of gold and silver coins that matched the description of property taken from that incident.
The Shearins were connected to Henderson by law enforcement at the Yates County Sheriff’s Office in Penn Yan, N.Y., suspected of coming toward family in Henderson.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants on Louis Shearin for second-degree burglary, grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief on Nov. 20 in connection with the Dundee burglary investigation, according to Ferguson.
Deputies found Louis Shearin in room 104 of the Scottish Inn, 1759 North Garnett St., Henderson, at 7:30 p.m., and took him into custody.
Ferguson confirmed the seizure of $2,341 in mostly $100 bills, two scooters, and 11 bindles of heroin. The cash is believed to have been taken in Yates County.
