Richard Earl McNeil has been arrested by Henderson police and faces nine drug charges.

Lt. Alan Hedgepeth confirmed Monday that police executed a search warrant on Friday at 129 Granite Street, McNeil’s residence.

McNeil, 26, was jailed and bond set at $60,000 after he received additional charges related to resisting officers and possession of a stolen firearm.

The drug charges include three counts of possession of marijuana for sale, two each of manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for drug trafficking, and one each of maintaining a dwelling for drug trafficking and sale and delivery of marijuana.

Police were made aware of suspicious activity in the area by citizens’ complaints. The special operations division investigated and carried out the warrant.

Three of the drug charges stemmed from earlier controlled purchases of marijuana by an undercover officer operating in the Henderson area.

According to Hedgepeth, Vance County Jail authorities took custody of McNeil after he failed to post a security payment for his $60,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21, in Vance County District Court.
