A Henderson woman received serious injuries Tuesday night from a single-vehicle accident on West Andrews Avenue.

According to Henderson Police Department Lt. Christopher Ball, Mary McKinley, 25, of 118 North Street, crashed while driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre in the area of 1200 W. Andrews Ave., at 10 p.m.

Police found her unconscious inside the vehicle, Ball stated in written comments Wednesday. Vance County EMS personnel transported McKinley to Maria Parham Medical Center.

Because of serious facial injuries, MPMC doctors transferred her to Duke University Medical Center.

Police cited McKinley with driving while impaired, having an open container of alcoholic beverage in the car, and failure to wear a seat belt.

She is scheduled for a hearing in Vance County District Court on March 26.
