December crimes remain unsolved; rewards available

The Henderson Police Department and Vance County Sheriff’s Office released a joint statement this week seeking assistance from the public to solve four armed robbery cases and a shooting.

Both law enforcement agencies said tips can be made through Henderson-Vance County Crime Stoppers at (252) 492-1925 or online at Information leading to an arrest can lead to rewards of up to $2,000.

Vance deputies are looking for information on who shot a man at the Vicksboro Road Stop One Grocery convenience store on Dec. 5, hitting him in the head.

Deputies answering the dispatch call to 2064 Vicksboro Road at 6:45 p.m. found Gaifi Renza Ali with a bullet wound to the back of the head, but responsive.

On Dec. 21 at the BP gas station on N.C. 39 South, according to a witness, two black males wearing masks and gloves came in armed and demanding money at about 10:30 a.m.

Deputies said both assailants reportedly ran from the store and toward the back where they got in a small white vehicle that drove off toward Garrett Road.

On Dec. 21, Henderson police responded to the New Dixie Mart, 1201 Dabney Drive, at 10:46 p.m. A victim reported two black males brandished firearms and removed an undisclosed sum of cash from the store.

The suspects were described as one slender, about 6-foot tall, the other less certain other than wearing a ball cap. The assailants fled the scene without further incident.

On Dec. 22, deputies report two armed black males dressed in all black with green masks came into Raleigh Road Convenience Store, 2406 Raleigh Road, about 7:10 p.m.

Vance investigators were told the assailants demanded money and then ran from the store without further incident.

On Dec. 24, police and investigators worked the scene of a reported armed robbery of the Waffle House at 942 W. Andrews Ave. Police said restaurant employees handed over an undetermined amount of cash to three armed black males wearing all dark clothing.

Another man was reportedly robbed in the parking lot. Police chased a vehicle with four suspects, who were able to get away once abandoning the vehicle on Mill Street.
