Routes to Tri-County municipal offices begin today

Election offices in Vance, Granville and Warren counties begin receiving official filings today for the fall municipal elections.

At each office and across the state, the filing period commences at noon. Each of the Tri-County offices closes today at 5 p.m.

The filing period continues the next two weeks, ending on Friday, July 19, at noon.

The Vance County office is located at 300 South Garnett Street in Henderson. The Granville office is at 122 Williamsboro Street in Oxford and the Warren office is at 309 North Main Street in Warrenton.

Vance voters will be electing officials in Henderson, Kittrell and Middleburg.

Residents in Henderson will be electing representatives for at-large Ward 1, at-large Ward 2, Ward 3 and Ward 4. Those incumbents are, respectively, Sara Coffey, Mike Inscoe, Garry Daeke and Vernon Brown.

In Kittrell, seats for the mayor and three town commissioners will be on the ballot. The incumbents are mayor Jerry Joyner and commissioners Betsy Simpson, Susan Pulley and Jack Ball.

In Middleburg, seats for the mayor and three members of the town council are on the ballot. The incumbents are mayor Ray Bullock and commissioners Annie Fudge, Ruth Nance and Gary Plummer.

In Oxford, seats up for election are the mayor and four city commissioners. The incumbents are mayor Jackie Sergent and commissioners Ron Bullock, Danny Currin, Calvin Harris Jr. and Betty Moseley.

Elections will also be conducted in the Granville municipalities of Creedmoor, Stem, Stovall and Butner.

In all three Warren County communities, the seats for mayor will be on the ballot. All town commissioners are on the ballot in Norlina and Macon, and three of seven in Warrenton will be in the election.

In Warrenton, incumbents who seats are up for election are mayor Walter Gardner and commissioners Kimberly Harding, Jules Banzer and Mary Hunter.

In Macon, the incumbents are mayor Rob Evans and commissioners Wanda Carroll, David Harris, Benny Hilliard, Allen Hobgood and Glenn Riggan.

In Norlina, the incumbents are mayor Dwight Pearce and commissioners Scooter Edwards, Bill Harris, Jimmy Overby, Sonny Peoples and Lou Stultz.
