Missing Henderson 14-year-old found safe in Middleburg

A missing 14-year-old girl has been found safe and two men face charges after Henderson police and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted an operation here Tuesday night.

Lt. Christopher Ball said Henderson police participated with the criminal investigations division and a SWAT team. The girl was located at 139 Holly Road in Middleburg.

Arrested were 18-year-old Maguel Burt of 1010 Lehman St. in Henderson and Samuel McDonald Townes, a 47-year-old of 139 Holly Road.

Burt faces charges of armed robbery and having a firearm as a convicted felon on outstanding warrants related to a Dec. 24 incident in the parking lot of Alex’s Quickstop, 923 Nicholas St., Henderson. He is also charged with making threats.

Townes is facing charges of providing misleading information on Burt’s whereabouts to officers.

Burt was released on a $70,000 secured bond and a date in Vance County District Court on Feb. 25. Townes received a $2,000 secured bond and has a court hearing on Feb. 18.
