One man has been arrested and another is being sought in connection to the drive-by shooting death of a Henderson teenager Tuesday night.

Deonte Judkins, a 16-year-old student, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday night, according to Vance County Sheriff Peter White. The incident happened at the edge of Henderson at 1283 Walters Street, where Judkins was reportedly visiting a friend.

A sheriff’s report on the incident listed Judkins’ address as 212 Lowry Street, Henderson.

White said deputies located a suspect’s vehicle and have arrested Quatrail Pair, 23, of 666 Vance Street, Henderson. Pair is facing numerous charges, including:

• first-degree murder.

• first-degree discharging a weapon into occupied property.

• possession of a firearm by felon.

• possession of a gun with an altered serial number.

• possession with intent to sell, maintain and deliver heroin.
Pair also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.

Pair was not given a bond amount on the murder charge. His total bond on the other charges is $220,000. He is in the Vance County jail, with a Jan. 7 appearance scheduled in Vance County District Court.

White said deputies are seeking a second suspect, 29-year-old Marcus Alex Williams of Henderson, in connection to Judkins’ death. Williams is facing charges for accessory after the fact to the felony of murder.

“There is another young man we are looking for,” White said of Williams. “We have warrants on him. We want to get our hands on him.”

Judkins was taken to Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. White did not identify who was with Judkins at the time of the shooting.

“We think that the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” White said.

White also confirmed the 1283 Walters Street residence had been fired into before. Tuesday, White said numerous shots were fired but deputies did not confirm if more than one firearm was being used.

One handgun was recovered.

“There was another individual with Judkins,” White said. “They were both trying to get into the house when Judkins was hit.”

White said the incident does not appear to be gang-related, or related to any earlier shooting incidents at the address.

“We know the shooter knew that person with Judkins and the shots were fired intentionally,” White said.
