Police chase ends with vehicle crash
A Henderson police chase resulted in a crash on Main Street Thursday night, with the occupants of the car escaping on foot.
Henderson Police Lt. Alan Hedgepeth said only one officer was involved in the 9:30 pursuit that ended with the vehicle being pursued damaging 50 feet of chain link fence, a brick wall and several retaining wires of a utility pole.
“There have been no injuries reported to the police department as a result of this incident,” Hedgepeth wrote in response to questions on the incident. “No one was arrested as the occupants fled on foot.”
A police report on the incident noted an estimate of $7,000 damage to property belonging to Recon Quality Investment at 100 Main St., assessing the fence and wall repair costs.
The utility pole belonging to Progress Energy sustained $500 damage to the retaining wires, according to the report. Hedgepeth confirmed the vehicle was a 2000 Buick LeSabre.
No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash.
