A Henderson man was injured by a gunshot to the head while in the bedroom of his Vicksboro Road residential camper Wednesday, according to Vance County Sheriff Peter White.
No arrests have been made and deputies are trying to find out who fired the shot they believe was intentional. The incident happened just before 7 p.m.
White said Gaifi Renza Ali, 52, of 2064 Vicksboro Road, was transported first to Maria Parham Medical Center.
“It is a serious injury,” White said.
An update on Ali’s condition and if he was taken to another hospital was not available at press time.
White said investigators are looking into some level of malicious intent.
“We believe it was intentional,” White said.
White said that initial investigative efforts had yet to determine the type of firearm used as of Thursday afternoon.
“It appears that he might have been shot through a bedroom window,” White said. “The residence is a pull-behind camper.”
Ali is noted on the incident report as employed at Stop One Grocery, also at 2064 Vicksboro Road.
White said that anyone with information that can help in finding the shooter should call the VCSO at (252) 738-2200.
