Public hearing on tap at Vance commissioners meeting Monday

Jun. 29, 2013 @ 06:32 PM

Commissioners in Vance County will welcome public comment on a proposed rezoning request at Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting at 6 p.m. is open to the public and the hearing is scheduled for 6:05.

Commissioners will be considering rezoning three existing lots along 151 Julia Street currently part of L&L Estates Mobile Home Park. The lots are zoned planned manufactured housing community and would be changed to residential medium density.

In preparing the proposal, Jordan McMillen of the planning and development department points out the lots were zoned correctly and consistently in 2011. But all lots separate of the mobile home park are zoned residential medium density. Plans are in place by the owner, JoAnne Tyson Lee, to sell the three together, according to her May application for rezoning.

To complete or reject the rezoning, commissioners will have to acknowledge in writing if the action taken is consistent with an adopted comprehensive plan. McMillen’s office is recommending approval of the request.

The commissioners’ agenda also includes recommendations from the Human Resources Committee, reports from the county attorney and the county manager, appointments and a meeting of the water district board.

The commissioners are expected to entertain a legal matter in closed session.
