The nationwide, volunteer-run tax assistance program Tax-Aide is seeking volunteers in Vance County to help county residents with a low to moderate income prepare and file federal and state personal income tax returns.

Tax-Aide is a program of the AARP Foundation and is offered in conjunction with the IRS.

Last year, the program helped more than 52,000 taxpayers across North Carolina.

Volunteers receive free specialized computer and tax law training and limited reimbursement for certain expenses.

Those interested in volunteering can attend a Tax-Aide orientation meeting later this month at the Vance County Senior Center. Details about the meeting will be announced.

For more information or to register, call the Vance County Senior at (252) 430-0257.
