Throughout the summer, the senior circle programs at Plank Chapel revolved around the theme of travel and adventure.

On June 18, members went on a virtual cruise and traveled from England to Germany, Russia, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Jay Fuller, using a large screen projector, presented travel photos and detailed descriptions of the tourist highlights and historical landmarks of each of the countries.

On July 15, Fuller took members and their guests on a virtual tour of Alaska and also Canada’s Yukon territory. His photo presentation included picturesque scenes of glaciers and mountains, as well as images from an overland bus tour to Dawson City and the popular places frequented by gold miners more than a hundred years ago.

Live entertainment was provided by Austyn Abbott, who has studied dance for eight years at Angie’s Dance Academy. She has been competing on the national level for the last four years, and her most recent achievement was being crowned Junior Miss Talent in July. Her duties will include wearing the crown for a year and assisting judges at other competitions and at any event as called upon by the White Lightning Company. Abbott, using a production CD, shared some of her individual and group dance routines, which have won awards this year. She is the daughter of Jamie and Larraine Abbott and the granddaughter of Hilma Smith, a senior circle member.
