Members of the Henderson Optimist Club, including club president Matthew Todd (at left), president-elect John Pecora (at right) and Joyce Parker (second from right), recently honored Burger King of Henderson for supplying prizes for two of the club’s youth projects, “Attend and Win” and “Read and Win.” Also present were Katrina Davis (second from left), Burger King site manager, and Ray Meeks, president of Carolina Quality, Inc. The “Attend and Win” and “Read and Win” projects reward best attendance and best reading, respectively, in five elementary schools in Vance County: Carver, Aycock, Clarke, E.M. Rollins and E.O. Young. Approximately 4,000 elementary students have been honored since the programs were established five years ago.
