Funds available to assist landowners in water conservation
The Vance County Soil & Water Conservation District has received a $37,253 cost share allocation for 2013-2014 from the N.C. Agriculture Cost Share Program.
The funds are available to assist landowners and farmers in implementing conservation practices that decrease the amount of pollutants released into nearby water sources.
Practices that qualify for cost share assistance include diversions, grass waterways, field borders, sod-based rotation, stream protection management and pond clean out.
Participants will be reimbursed for 75 percent of the average cost for each eligible conservation practice installed.
A conservation specialist is available to visit applicants’ farms and assess possible solutions for protecting nearby creeks streams and rivers.
