Walmart Distribution Center No. 6091’s volunteer efforts recently helped provide a $5,000 donation to Area Christians Together in Service.

In an Event Volunteer Assistance Program, two associates of the Developed to Lead group led a question and answer session on who and how to help among the organizations in the community. ACTS, which serves meals to the needy and has a food pantry, was first to be mentioned.

ACTS also recently lost a women’s shelter, with funding issues cited.

While volunteering there, associates Karen Fuller and Tony Powell saw other needs and enlisted help. Their work included helping kids in a summer program, and structural repair work from a leaking roof, squirrel infestation and a damaged upstairs floor.
