College to hold workshops for afterschool professionals

Vance-Granville Community College is offering two all-day training sessions for area afterschool program administrators and staff members.

The sessions, entitled “Upping Your Afterschool Game,” will be held on March 8 and May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in room 6115 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

Participants should attend one session only. A one-hour lunch break is included in each session.

Jacquelin Heath, the School-Age Education Program head at the college, will be the main presenter.

The sessions will focus on building knowledge and skills needed in the field of afterschool care. Subjects will include hiring and training staff.

Participants who successfully complete training will receive 0.6 continuing education units at the college.

The attendance fee is $25 per session.

For the March session, the deadline to register is Feb. 28. For the May session, the deadline to register is May 2.
