James Alexander Averette, a student at Kerr-Vance Academy, recently spent time at the N.C. Senate, serving as a page. Averette was sponsored by Trudy Wade, N.C. Sen-R (Guilford).

His duties consisted of delivering bills and amendments for representative during the daily House sessions and committee meetings, lending his assistance to the offices of individual representatives and running other errands around the Legislature. Like other pages, Averette spent a week assisting members and staff at the General Assembly while learning about the structure of state government.

Phil Berger, N.C. Sen-R (Guilford/Rockingham), Senate president pro tempore, personally appoints the pages. At the start of each week, he introduces them to members and citizens in the House gallery during Monday night’s session.

Averette is the son of Curtis and Angela Averette of Henderson.
