Rho Tau Omega Chapter celebrates silver anniversary
The Rho Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority recently celebrated its 25th chartering anniversary with a dinner and dance at the Warren County Armory Civic Center.
Carolyn Spain served as mistress of ceremonies.
Frances Robertson, the chapter president, gave the welcoming.
Wadie Ryan gave the invocation.
Music during dinner was provided by Warren County baritone Steve Hyman.
Dr. Linda T. Mason introduced Dr. Marye Jeffries, the sorority’s 11th mid-Atlantic regional director, who chartered the chapter. Jeffries offered greetings and expressed thanks to the chapter for its service to the community.
Jennie Franklin presented a token of appreciation to Jeffries on behalf of the chapter.
Audrey Davis offered a summary of the chapter’s history, beginning with its chartering on March 19, 1989.
Charter members were recognized and presented with bouquets of long-stemmed pink roses.
Bertadean Baker, Eva Clayton, Constance Davis and Amanda West were recognized for 50 years of service to Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Margaret W. Bullock, Angela Davis, Jennie Franklin, Frances M. Robertson and Wadie C. Ryan were recognized for 25 years of service.
Recognition was also given to life members Bertadean Baker, Margaret Bullock, Constance Davis, Eva Clayton and Jennie J. Franklin.
Special guests were recognized by Jaycynthia S. Robinson.
Magnolia Clanton, chairman of the event’s steering committee, provided closing remarks.
