Careers the focus at Emerging Young Leaders meeting
The Emerging Young Leaders Program recently held a meeting at the Central Children’s Home in Oxford that focused on non-traditional occupations for women.
Dorothy Perry, the program’s co-chairwoman, presided.
Karen Yowell and Mary Anderson were the guest panelist speakers. Both shared experiences and obstacles they have dealt with relating to their career paths.
Linda Smith served as the keynote speaker. Her presentation focused on the acronym WINTER, standing for women in non-traditional employment roles.
She encouraged the young leaders to think outside of the box with regards to career choice, enroll in proper classes and seek information from others with established careers.
Vivian Bullock offered tips to help make an interview successful.
