Community band to give spring concert Friday

The Vance-Granville Community Band will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday in the civic center at Vance-Granville Community College.

The program will include “America the Beautiful,” Loch Lomond,” “Lord of the Dance/Simple Gifts,” “Haitian Holiday,” “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” the overture from the French opera “Girofle-Girofla” and the finale from Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in b flat major.

The band will be conducted by Vance-Granville music instructor Ivory Brock. He will be assisted by Brian Miller, the band director at Louisburg High School.

Raynah Adams will serve as emcee.

The concert is free and open to the public.
