Lake Gaston Association: Water quality topic of Wednesday meeting
James Beckley, quality assurance coordinator for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, will speak during the next meeting of the Lake Gaston Association. It will take place Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m., at Lake Gaston Baptist Church, N.C. 903, 1 mile north of Eaton Ferry Bridge, across from the Subway Restaurant.
Beckley will be discussing an E. coli bacteria water quality testing program to be carried out during the spring and summer by volunteers on the association’s environment committee. Between April and July, they will test roughly 20 sample points around Lake Gaston.
The numerous association committees — Public Safety, Lake Environment, Government Relations, Marketing and Membership and Lake Clean Up — will also discuss the various activities they are working on. The association has allotted time at this meeting for attendees to present lake-related issues or concerns to the board.
The meeting is open to both members and non-members.
