‘Cycle of Life’ public speaking contest winners announced

Warren Soil and Water Conservation District holds a public speaking contest, open to all seventh- and eighth grade students in Warren County, every year. This year, the theme was “Water — The Cycle of Life.”

The winners from Norlina Christian School were: seventh grade — MaKayla Strickland (first place), Emily Willis (second place) and Chase Perry (third place); and eighth grade — Kaleigh Shearin (second place). Eighth-graders Kayla Henry and Ian Williams from Warren County Middle School, placed first and third respectively in their grade level.

Strickland and Henry, each placing first in their grade level, will move on to the State Area IV competition.
